Volunteer with the CRG

The Confederate Reunion Grounds Historical Site is maintained by the State of Texas. However, with the amount of State Parks, the funding is typically very small. Therefore, a group of individuals formed the Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historical Society Inc. This is a governing body that works on the earning of funds to be placed into the park as well as physical help with the park's maintenance. The CRGSHS Inc has met twice in 2007 for the purpose of general cleaning and maintenance for the Living History Days event in 2007.

What is the Living History Days Event?

The Living History Days at the Confederate Reunion Grounds is currently the main volunteer money-maker for the park outside the State of Texas. The LHD occurs on the 3rd weekend in April and lasts all three days. The park is open to the public for a nominal fee of $5.00 per person. Events include a reenactment, 1860s period dance, classes, food, fun, and games for the kids.

How can I help?

There are many ways to help with the park. For the physically able, there are cleanup days that occur throughout the year. Much of the acreage at the park is covered by very dense woods. The CRGSHS Inc. is working on the thinning of this land in order to utilize all of the space for camping, hiking, fishing, etc. If you are interested in working for the park, please contact Tom Fisher or a member of the Board of Directors.

Any person who is not physically able for the park cleanup can volunteer in any number of ways. Durning the months before the LHD, the CRGSHS Inc. works on getting finances and goods for use in putting on the LHD events. Contact the Board of Directors for further information on volunteering at the CRG. We truely hope that you will be able to join us. This is a truely noble effort. Please keep in mind that all monetary donations are tax deductable since the CRGSHS Inc. is a tax exempt organization.
