We are glad to welcome you to the Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site! We want your stay here to be both safe and enjoyable! Safety is the business of all Reenactors. The following rules are in place for your and spectators safety. We trust you will have a great weekend and invite you to return!
______________
1. Texas Parks and Wildlife rules will be followed at all times. A complete copy of all rules will be available at the Park check in booth.
2. All Reenactors and Suttlers must sign in at the Park Check In Station and sign a liability release.
3. The Coordinator, Park Safety Officer, Reenactor Safety Officers, or Park Employees may order other rules and changes as deemed necessary to insure the safety of reenactors and spectators. Those designated above have the delegated authority and are required to stop, or modify, for safety any exhibition, drill, battle, or other activity if it endangers the safety of a spectator, reenactor, or park facility!
4. All Livestock must have a current negative Coggins Test
5. All firearms will be inspected for safety violations
6. No Live Ammunition allowed.
7. Weapons will be under the control of the owner or a designated person at all times. They will not be left unguarded at any time.
8. Blanks and Black Powder will be under guard, lock and key or stored in a safe legal manner at all times
9. Under no circumstances will visitors be allowed to handle or use any weapons (blades, pistols, cannons, guns, rifles, or other devices) without the expressed consent of the Park Safety Officer assigned to the Living History Area.
10. Extreme care will be taken to see that demonstration firing of blanks will be done in a controlled area and in a safe direction. At no time will a participant aim at someone they will aim to the side or above at all times. There is a 50-foot rule in effect. If the person you are shooting at is closer than that distance there is a chance of inju ry.
11. At no time will visitors be allowed within 25 feet of a "firing demonstration", with cannons this distance is 40 feet.
12. A call will be made "Fire in the Hole" when firing any weapon.
13. All demonstrations with blades, swords, bayonets, knives, or other blades will have a 10 foot safety zone between the general public and the reenactors.
14. When pistols or revolvers are used, care will be taken to see that there is nobody standing to the side of the cylinder where injury could occur. When not on a firing demonstration, all pistols are to be kept in the holsters with the flap or tie down in the lock position.
15. Animals will not be tied to Park Structures. The general public will not be allowed to be in the corral or on the picket line with the horses.
16. Ground fires are permitted, but no digging of holes. All fires must be under constant control and must be put completely out prior to leaving the site
17. All non-period equipment and foodstuffs (including soft drinks, etc.) will be kept out of sight from the general public, in tents or baggage between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M.
18. Please leave the park as clean as you found it, please put your trash in provided receptacles, don't leave bailing wire in the grass, pick up paper cartridges and other debris. We want the park clean for you and all visitors.
19. For the consideration of those that live close by, there are to be no excessively loud activities after 10 p.m
20. There is to be no open display of alcohol. If consumed it must be after the park closes, and in a period correct cup. Public intoxication will result in dismissal from the park and the event.
We appreciate your participation in this event and your care of this Historic Site.
